Classic 100 Symphonies

I voted today in ABC Classic FM’s Classic 100 Symphonies. Put my three votes in for Beethoven Symphony No. 5, Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique”. I was very glad that I could pick 3 symphonies, instead of just one, as that would’ve been a lot harder.

Will be interesting to see how the order goes. I have a feeling Beethoven 5 will be fairly high, as most people will know it, but we’ll see.

  1. No 1 . Beethoven ‘s 6th symphony (Pastorale)
    No 2. Schubert’s Unfinished symphony.
No 3. Dvorak ‘s New World Symphony.

    1. Nice Picks! More of a fan of Beethoven 5 than 6 myself, but they’re all fantastic. Dvorak 9 (New World) is incredible – I know most people know the second movement, but the last movement does it for me. So much fun to play 🙂

  2. 1/ Hector Berlioz: Symp.Fantastique

    2/ Camille Saint-Saens : Organ Symphony

3/ Antonin Dvorak : Symp.No.9 -From the New World

    1. It came in at Number 16. So far, as of this post, they’ve counted up to number 11, Counting down 10-1 today. Big omissions so far (ie, most likely to appear in top 10) is Beethoven 3, 5, 6 and 9. You can find the full list at the ABC website
