"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and think darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
Isaiah 60:1-3 (NIV)
Arise, Shine, for your light has come. What a wonderful blessing. But more than that, our light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon us. Each one of us has a light to shine, and it is up to us to shine it. I’m reminded of the song “This little light of mine” – Hide it under a bushell, NO! I’m gonna let it shine.
Some of us however, might not be up for the big shining that other people give. You might not be up there leading worship. For me, I would say while I’m fine getting up there and being a leader in leading worship, or preaching, the social issues, helping people in the street is something that I’m less confident on (though that’s something I will be working on). We aren’t all called to do everything. Find your gifts and talents, your passions, and that’s probably where God is calling you to share your light, for his glory.
