Wing your flight o’er all the earth!
A traditional Christmas carol, the original version had seven verses, however most performances only include four.
Angels from the realms of glory, Wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story, Now proclaim Messiah’s birth:
The angels who sang of the creation story are now proclaiming the messiah’s birth. This links us right back to the very beginning of creation – to the garden of Eden and the fall of man – the reason that Jesus had to come.
Shepherds, in the fields abiding, Watching o’er your flocks by night,
God with man is now residing, Yonder shines the infant Light;
Shepherds, the people who would least be expected to be invited to the birth of the Messiah, get informed that God with man is now residing. That information is still relevant today – God is still residing with man today.
Come and worship, Come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn King!
We are all invited to come and worship Christ, the newborn King! Whether Angel, shepherd, sage (wise man) or saint, all come and worship, all for the Messiah. How are you going to worship Christ, the new-born king this Christmas?
