Ding Dong Merrily on High

In heav’n the bells are ringing!

While Julie Andrews has a fantastic voice – and I do hope you enjoyed it – I personally lost count of how many key changes there were in that performance…

Everyone has fun with this song, seeing how many breaths they can do the Gloria in. Personally, I can do it in one, and have gotten into accenting each note with a “h” so that it’s a bit harder for me. But I’m a nerd like that.

But this carol tells us of the angels singing of the birth of Jesus Christ. An even here below, both priest and people – the “holy” and the “plebs” – are to join with the heavenly host, singing “Gloria, Hosanna in excelsis” – Glory to God in the Highest.

Sorry I haven’t posted in a little bit – went over to Melbourne for the Salvation Army Commissioning Weekend, and got out of the habit of posting. I’ll try and make sure I keep it up to Christmas.
