Kuchler Concertino for Violin and Piano, Op. 11

Published in 1934, some three years before his death, this Concertino is an ideal piece for beginner students as their first multi-movement work. Capable of being played entirely in the first position, this edition includes some alternate fingering that allows extension into the third position.
German violinist and composer Ferdinand Küchler (1867-1937) was working at the State Conservatory of Leipzig when he wrote this concertino, one of a number of student works that he composed during this time. His pedagogical works shaped violin instruction until the mid-1960s and his compositions are still considered an important part of the beginners’ repertoire.
